This blog is far more difficult for me than the last. First off, I don’t have a Facebook, or a Twitter. I do have an Instagram, but I’ve never really seen the appeal of following celebrities. So, for this blog since I can pick any celebrity under the sun, I decided to go for one of the most ridiculous choices. That being said, of course I picked Snooki. We all know Snooki from her larger then life personality on the reality TV show, The Jersey Shore. Nowadays however, Snooki is a new mother and soon to be wife, as she constantly reminds her six million Twitter followers. The shift in people viewing Snooki from an extremely hot mess party girl to a sweet (yet perhaps still slightly misguided) mother, didn’t just happen overnight. Though Snooki is the reality star everyone loves to hate, she has come leaps in bounds in transforming her image. Tweets of wild drunken nights on the boardwalk, have been traded in for graphic tweets of breastfeeding her new baby Lorenzo. Not to say that Snooki has let all of her old self fall the the wayside. Her Twitter is full of energy upon first sight. Bright fuchsia, and dramatic cheetah print splash across the screen. You needn’t scroll down far to get a slap in the face of Snooki’s humor. Though there are a sprinkling of sickly sweet tweets about her fiance Jionni, and new motherhood, she is for lack of a better term, still quite buck. Surprisingly her tweets are often quite inspiring. Snooki is very vocal about standing up for who she is, and refusing to give in to other peoples hateful opinions. Playfully telling people to ‘stop chugging hatorade’, and calling herself a ‘milf’. She also promotes loving your body, not needing to change to fit the mold others have made for you. In my opinion, whether you love Snooki, or hate her, she is undeniably her own woman. She has come a long way from being punched in bar brawls in seedy clubs in Jersey. Just read her Twitter and you’ll see, “The breast pump bra is a miracle. Thank you for making it so much easier.” A long way indeed...
I really enjoyed reading this blogspot about Snooki. I’d say that it’s pretty spot on with how I view her as well. It’s nice to see her kind of wind down from the image she was pursuing on the Jersey Shore, to the mother and soon to be wife she is currently. It’s cool that she still maintains the same energy and optimistic views she had before the pregnancy and relationship status, and she is someone still managing a great following with her witty-ness and self-acclaimed fame she built from the Jersey Shore. I wonder if she’ll have a spin-off show about her new yet still glamorous life? Only time will tell, I guess!
ReplyDeleteI really liked your post. You chose to not focus on the negative sides of Snooki and focus on her efforts to become better for her future. I personally like Snooki's personality and her 'I Don't Care' attitude. I also agree with Morgan, I am sure Snooki will get her own show following her newfound motherhood.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have never really been a fan of MTV in general. Snooki is easily the best example of MTV at it's worst. It is a shame that the MTV television network is identified with todays youth. The way MTV portrays characters like Snooki is shameful. I hate Jersey Shore, it is insane to believe how many people many people pay attention to her. I wish America cared about more important things. I would mainly blame this on today's media. The media would rather cover Snooki's pregnancy then a problem that concerns the youth.
ReplyDeletePrior to reading this blog post I had little to no education on who Snooki was. I obviously had heard about her considering she has been all over the news, internet, and TV. I think it is ignorant for people to think that someone who lives the lifestyle that she did can't change. People probably had a lot of doubts when they found out that she was pregnant but if she really has changed and is trying to give her child the best life that she can than props to her. It is easier to sit back and "hate" on someone than it is to consider the fact that people change and grow up. I hope that as Snooki progresses further through her life people will give up the old views on her and accept her for who she is now and not who she was. Thanks for posting this because I'm glad that I have finally gained a little knowledge on Snooki.

I think it's cool that you concentrated on how snooki has come a long way from where she was. I hope that she can be a good mother to her baby and learn how to have more responsibility. I am personally not a huge fan of her but props to her for pulling through the pregnancy and not having an abortion!
ReplyDeleteBeing a Twitter fanatic, I follow practically anybody who is talked about more than once in pop culture. I too have noticed the slight changes in Snooki's ways. She has been, and continues, to be very honest and straight forward in her tweets. If people give her shit for anything, she throws it back in her face. Although I'm sure she has many steps to become the ideal mother I truly believe, through her transformation into motherhood which she's spoken of on twitter, she can become a decent parent.
ReplyDeleteI've never even entertained the idea of Snooki being a positive roll-model until this post. To me she has always represented alcohol and the traditional American ditzy-ness that we so adore in our female celebrities. I'm sure you can imagine my shock at hearing that she is now an advocate for positive women's body images and being a great mother. When she announced that she was pregnant I (and quite a few others) though that her child would not only be neglected, but raised to be just like her mom. While the second might still be true, it's good to hear that that might not be such an awful thing.
ReplyDeleteI remember after tangents I would go on about how the Jersey Shore is ruining society, with it's embrace of meathead tools who disrespect women with the life goal of going to the biggest parties, my father would always protect Snookie. He would say that she has amazing charisma and her own unique personality. After reading this, it kind of has me agreeing. She is definitely her own woman and isn't scared to speak her thoughts, which is something hard to find now adays. Even though, everything she stands for is incredibly linear and destructive, she definitely has a good heart and shows it to the world through her twitter.
